The United States government is composed of 3 branches. The legislative branch (Congress), the executive branch (the President), and the judicial branch (the Supreme Court). Each creates a system of checks and balances for the others, the way the Founding Fathers wanted our government to be- so no particular branch of government would become too powerful. |
